Wentworth Cricket Club Established 1876

The cricket season is almost with us and as I looked over the ground this week, with the new roll-on covers ready to be put into operation when required, it gave me a feeling of satisfaction.  After all the hard work of raising money to purchase the equipment, I must once again thank our sponsors and vice presidents for their support.

After 60 years of being involved with Wentworth Cricket Club I decided not to stand as chairman and take a back seat as it were.  I would like to welcome our new chairman Tony Hughes, of Huthwaite International, and hope he has a long and enjoyable association with the club.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who were involved in making the presentation evening in November such a special night, I will remember it for the rest of my life.  I suppose I will still do my rounds with the sponsors and vice presidents who have supported me over the years.

Congratulations to our vice chairman and fundraiser Martyn Johnson on having his book published, we all wish hime well with the sale of it.  My thanks to our committee for all hard work they put in over the season and congratulate our team on getting promotion last year.  I am confident they will give a good account of themselves in Section A.
